Some people find decluttering ir organization difficult, but there is a plethora of information to be found on our Facebook newsfeeds, Pinterest and other sources such as magazines, e-zines and Youtube offering steps to clear the clutter. I don’t wait for spring cleaning to roll around – just before the holidays is a great time to start thinning out the things that accumulate around the house. My favorite way is a big trash can!
But seriously, I think that the best way to organize is to remember how liberating it is to be free of clutter. Keep up with it while the memory of that feeling is fresh in your mind. Set aside a half hour, a half day or some time once per month and purge items from around collection areas, like kitchen tables, desks and entry ways where things you don’t know what to do with can pile up. Don’t forget your home filing – even organized papers can grow out of control when not attended to.
Many of us can actually become less productive, and even less happy, with clutter around us. Don’t be afraid to throw away or recycle items items that don’t have a specific purpose! Keep in mind if you have children at home, you’re also teaching them early that it’s ok to get rid of old broken toys, or give things they’ve outgrown to other children who have less.
